MBRF achieves 100% compliance in the 3rd Unified Audit Cycle of the Term of Adjustment of Conduct for Cattle in the Legal Amazon

Result achieved in audits conducted by the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office reinforces the robustness of the company’s socio-environmental monitoring system and its commitment to a deforestation-free supply chain

MBRF, one of the world’s largest food companies, is among the companies that achieved 100% compliance in the 3rd Unified Audit Cycle of the Term of Adjustment of Conduct (TAC) for Cattle in the Legal Amazon, conducted by the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF). The company maintained the result achieved in the two previous cycles. The audit assessed cattle supply chain suppliers across the states of the Legal Amazon and more than 1.7 million animals traded during the audited period. In MBRF’s case, then audited under the Marfrig operation, 101,480 cattle originating from the states of Mato Grosso and Rondônia were assessed.

“This result demonstrates the strength and effectiveness of our socio-environmental monitoring system and reinforces our ability to maintain a 100% monitored supply chain that is free from deforestation and conversion. It contributes to more sustainable cattle farming while strengthening the confidence of customers, investors and global markets that increasingly demand more transparent and traceable supply chains,” says Paulo Pianez, MBRF’s Director of Sustainability and Institutional Relations.

The Cattle TAC is an agreement between slaughterhouses and the MPF aimed at preventing the purchase of cattle originating from areas affected by illegal deforestation, environmental embargoes, invasion of public lands or conditions analogous to slavery. Participating companies undergo periodic audits to verify the compliance of their suppliers.

Deforestation-free supply chain

In December 2025, MBRF achieved 100% territorial traceability across its cattle supply chain, covering both direct and indirect suppliers in all Brazilian biomes where cattle are sourced.

The commitment was originally announced at COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, with different deadlines for each biome: the Amazon by 2025 and the Cerrado by 2030. During COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, MBRF voluntarily brought forward the target to 2025. The work began with extensive territorial mapping that identified and classified areas according to socio-environmental risk levels, guiding strategies for implementing monitoring and producer engagement initiatives throughout the supply chain.

The company has a satellite-based geomonitoring system operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week. MBRF currently monitors approximately 25 million hectares, an area equivalent to the size of the state of São Paulo or the United Kingdom.

Mandatory socio-environmental criteria for supplier approval and continued qualification include checks for environmental embargoes issued by Ibama, ICMBio and Sema; overlaps with legally protected areas; deforestation; lists maintained by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE) concerning work under conditions analogous to slavery; as well as overlaps with Indigenous and Quilombola territories. In addition to traditional compliance criteria, MBRF also incorporates biodiversity-related aspects, including indicators designed to understand and prevent adverse impacts, such as water stress. Suppliers associated with any non-compliance are automatically blocked from making new cattle purchases through the company’s system until the relevant issues have been clarified and properly addressed.
